Learning objectives
Describe and recognize the clinically relevant pathophysiology underlying traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries
Recognize the strength and limitations of the available literature and current guidelines in directing neurotrauma management
Describe the utility and limitations of currently available neurological monitoring systems and their interactions
Recognize the indications and opportunities for individualizing and fine tuning treatment of traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries
Coordinate the acute management of neurological trauma with the overall care of the polytrauma patient
Outline the available methods, with their advantages and disadvantages, for managing traumatic cerebrospinal fluid leaks
Explain the priorities and techniques that influence coordination of the surgical management of cranial neurological and maxillofacial injuries
